An international career before returning to Brunei
Haslina Taib is a Bruneian technology executive whose career connects enterprise systems, public-service delivery and regional business cooperation. A 2023 account by business partner TradeWaltz describes approximately twenty years in Europe and the United States before her return to Brunei. The United Nations Office at Geneva’s 2024 profile identifies her as chief executive of Dynamik Technologies.
The available institutional accounts are much more detailed about her professional responsibilities than her childhood. This biography therefore leaves her birth date undocumented rather than supplying an estimated age. Her career is best followed through dated appointments, interviews and projects, which reveal how she moved from company leadership into wider discussions of Brunei’s digital economy.
BAG Networks, the 2007 appointment and the Dynamik name
Three dates explain the company’s history. It was established in 2001, Haslina became chief executive in 2007, and BAG Networks adopted the Dynamik Technologies name in October 2018. Her appointment was not the company’s founding, and the later rebrand was not the start of her leadership.
Dynamik describes services spanning strategy, software, data analytics, change management and managed infrastructure. A government example illustrates the practical environment: the Public Service Department’s SSM information page describes the combination of human-resource and financial systems and directs users to a Dynamik helpdesk. The government identifies the Public Service Department and Ministry of Finance and Economy as the project’s joint leads; it does not credit Haslina personally with creating the entire system.
Digital skills and her case for an export-ready ICT industry
In a 2014 Oxford Business Group interview, Haslina argued that Bruneian ICT companies needed both stronger local capability and a better understanding of overseas customers. She identified education applications, data analytics and document management as possible areas for specialisation. Her emphasis was on matching useful services to particular markets, rather than assuming that any new technology would generate exports.
She also called for skills development, reliable broadband, secure online transactions and closer public–private alignment. Dynamik’s community page lists Brunei Kids Can Code, Goals for Education and the Dynamik Pledge among its initiatives. These are concrete programme examples, but the company’s descriptions alone do not establish how many people gained jobs or how much national productivity improved.
APEC and ASEAN business representation are different roles
Haslina represented Brunei on the APEC Business Advisory Council from 2010 to 2016. Its 2012 report lists her in action-planning and advocacy work. This placed her in a business advisory forum serving the wider Asia-Pacific, distinct from a ministerial or diplomatic appointment.
She later chaired ASEAN-BAC Brunei during Brunei’s 2021 ASEAN chairmanship. ASEAN-BAC and APEC’s ABAC have similar abbreviations but belong to different regional frameworks. Her subsequent Borneo Economic Community work created another platform for business cooperation across Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia; it was not a merger of those councils.
DagangBorneo, KARYADI and TENUN
On 19 September 2023, TradeWaltz announced a cooperation memorandum with Dynamik connected to DagangBorneo. Haslina described a vision for a cross-border digital marketplace supporting the Borneo Economic Community. The announcement documents a partnership and its intended direction, not independently measured trade gains or proof that every proposed feature was already operating.
Pelita Brunei reported in August 2024 that, as a Borneo Economic Community co-chair, she presented KARYADI and TENUN. KARYADI concerned digital work and skills, including low-code tools, data analytics and sustainability; TENUN concerned sharing trade and economic data. Together they extend her professional focus beyond installing systems to the people, skills and cross-border arrangements needed to use them.
