Technical training before entrepreneurship
Tan Eng Kee is a Malaysian co-founder of Greatech and its group chief executive in the company’s checked reporting records. He completed a mechanical engineering certificate at Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah in Kedah in 1991. The qualification is a technical certificate, not a bachelor’s degree.
He began at Prodelcon in 1991, working in production planning and subsequently sales before leaving in 1993. Those early responsibilities placed him between the manufacture of precision parts and the commercial requirements of customers. They preceded both the Greatech automation company and its eventual public listing.
From components to automated production
The company’s history distinguishes two early stages. Greatech (M) began as a precision-components venture in 1993 and ceased business in 2001. Greatech Integration was incorporated in September 1997 and started operations in November 1998, developing a separate automation business.
Its applications expanded into semiconductor manufacturing in 2002 and the solar sector in 2010. Later company reporting also describes work for electric mobility, life sciences and consumer electronics. Greatech supplies automation equipment and production systems; that does not make it a manufacturer of every finished vehicle, medical product or chip made using those systems.
A listed parent and distinct leadership roles
Greatech Technology, the later listed parent, was formed in 2018. Tan’s appointment as a director on 14 May 2018 belongs to that corporate stage, not the start of his entrepreneurial career. The business is co-founded, rather than the work of a sole founder; company records also identify Khor Lean Heng’s operational leadership.
The company listed on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market on 13 June 2019 and transferred to the Main Market on 28 December 2020. These are different milestones: the transfer was not a second founding or an initial listing in 2020.

The Slovak manufacturing operation
The Malaysian embassy in Vienna reported Tan’s attendance at the opening of Greatech Mechatronics Slovakia in Nové Mesto nad Váhom. The operation followed the acquisition of Manz Slovakia and extended the group’s manufacturing presence into Europe.
The opening took place on 10 April 2025; the embassy published its report on 4 June. Keeping those dates separate avoids turning a later news publication into the date of the event. The expansion adds a concrete overseas chapter to a career rooted in Malaysian precision engineering and automation.
