An academy pathway to the senior national team
Sieng Chanthea developed through Bati Academy, the Football Federation of Cambodia’s youth programme. Federation and tournament records show him appearing for Cambodia in age-group competitions before his seventeenth birthday.
On 6 June 2019 he entered a World Cup qualifier against Pakistan as a substitute and scored Cambodia’s opening goal. The performance made him one of the youngest scorers in the country’s senior international history.
Club football at home and abroad
Chanthea joined Boeung Ket for the 2020 season and developed into a regular forward in the Cambodian Premier League. His speed and ability to play across the front line made him useful for both club and country.
