Lê Huỳnh Đức became a leading striker as Vietnamese football rebuilt international competition in the 1990s. He combined strength, movement and consistent scoring for his clubs and the national team.
In 1995 he became the first winner of the Vietnamese Golden Ball. Two more awards followed in 1997 and 2002, while his 34 international goals placed him among the national team’s most productive forwards.
From overseas pioneer to champion coach
A loan to Chongqing Lifan in China made Đức an early example of a Vietnamese player testing himself abroad. It also anticipated the cross-border careers that later became a key measure of ambition for national-team players.
As coach of SHB Đà Nẵng, he won the 2009 V.League and National Cup, then another league title in 2012. Those results made his post-playing career a second major chapter rather than an epilogue.
