A conservatory-trained pop musician
Born and raised in Bandung, Isyana Sarasvati began music lessons as a child and studied voice and multiple instruments. Scholarships took her to Singapore’s Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and its degree programme conferred by the Royal College of Music, where she completed first-class honours in 2015.
Writing the debut herself
Isyana entered commercial pop with Keep Being You in 2014 and wrote the material for her 2015 debut Explore!. Later albums Paradox and Lexicon moved beyond early radio pop toward more complex arrangements and the classical and progressive influences behind her training.
Creating an independent home
In 2020 Isyana founded Redrose Records, giving herself and other artists a platform for work that did not need to fit a single genre. The move linked performance with institution-building and made artistic control a central part of her public biography.
